Tahiti

Weather

Tahiti is located in a tropical region that has a very similar weather pattern throughout the year. There really is no good or bad time to visit Tahiti. Though sunshine is common throughout the year, this also means that there are occasional rainstorms, usually with very little warning, that are generally short lived. Tropical storms, however, are not an issue in Tahiti. Temperature remains relatively constant throughout the year, with an average of about 30°C or 85°F and around 25 – 27°C (77 – 80°F) as it cools off in the evening.

Getting Around

There are many ways to get around Tahiti if you are travelling the main roads. Tahiti happens to be the only French Polynesian Island that actually has public transportation options. Air conditioned buses stop at designated spots marked with blue signs throughout the island. Though they do have a schedule to follow, please be aware that they often do not. Due to the designated bus stop signs being a little hard to find at times, many drivers will stop for anyone who sensibly hails them down. Fare is to be paid at the end of your trip, and many routes have a set fare. Car rentals, scooters, taxis and ATVs are alternative methods available to get around Tahiti. Hitchhiking is also widely accepted and commonly done by both locals and travelers alike.
